RACE REGISTRATION

We invite you to join us with the support of Inside-OutSports and other sponsors for the 29th Annual Run for the Roses, the oldest 5K in the Triangle area. Last year over 480 runners registered. This year's race will again use the course that starts and finishes in the historic Mordecai district.

A portion of the proceeds from this race will benefit Urban Ministries of Wake County whichstrives to alleviate the effects of poverty in Wake County by meeting people’s basic needs for food, shelter and health care.

Location: The race will start and finish on Halifax Street near the Halifax Community Center located at 1015 Halifax Street north of Peace College in Raleigh. Race day registration and packet pickup will take place at the Community Center.

Starting Times: The 5K race will start at 2:00pm.
The children's event will start at 3:00pm. The events are 100 meters for 6 years & Under, and 1/4 mile for 6-10 years old. Parents are welcome and encouraged to run with their children.

Courses: The 5K course is a USAT&F certified loop (NC07104NW). It starts and finishes on Halifax Street between the Community Center and Pilot Mill and winds through parts of the historic Mordecai neighborhood west of Wake Forest Road. The children's races take place on Halifax Street fining near the Community Center.

TIMING: All runners will be issued a ChampionChip® timing chip. Chips must be picked up on race day morning at the registration area. Chips must be secured to the runners’ shoes and will be collected after the runners cross the finish line. All runners who fail to return their chips will be assessed a $15 penalty. Any entrant who picks up his/her chip, but fails to finish, must turn the chip in at the finish line on race day or mail it after the race to:

Co-ed Pairs Competition
Entrants can further register as a male/female pair during Saturday or Sunday packet pickup. Co-ed pairs will be ranked by the sum of their finishing times. Inside-Out Sports gift certificates will be awarded to the top three co-ed pairs.
NOTE: you may race as an individual OR a coed-pair, not both. 


Pump ‘N Run Competition
Entrants can also sign up on race day for the Pump ‘N Run competition which begins at 12:30pm on race day inside the Halifax Community Center.

Requirements:
• Male entrants will be required to bench press their weight.
• Women will be required to bench press 50% of their weight.

For each complete bench press, 30 seconds will be subtracted from your 5K time. Awards will be presented to the top three males and the top three females with the lowest “net” times. There is an additional cost of $5 for entering this competition which is paid at the weigh-in on race day.



Early Packet Pick-up: Late entrants can register and pre-registered runners can pick up their packets at Inside-Out Sports in Cary on Saturday, February 7th from 2 pm - 6 pm. Race day registration/packet pickup will take at the race site beginning at 12:30 pm.

little runner from 20075K Event - Inside-Out Sports gift certificates will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three finishers in each of the following age divisions (Male and Female): 12-under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-above (no duplication of awards).

Children’s Run - Medals will be presented to all children participants




POST RACE ACTIVITIES: The award ceremony will take place following the races. Race results will be posted
at the awards ceremony and official race results will be posted after the race at www.ncroadrunners.org.
